Any character, any concept anyone can think up, can fit within the Free Company. Leadership will be supportive of any character you want to play, but we ask that you meet us half-way.
  • Tell us what you intend to play, and we will give you opportunities and openings to interact with members. We will get you involved so long as you are willing to engage with the member base.
  • If you are a natural introvert, or super shy, or need some encouragement to get out of your shell: don’t panic, we have your back. Many of us are introverts, and know how hard it can be to break into roleplay. We refuse to let you slip through the cracks. Talk to us.
  • If your character is a loner, or not super sociable, leadership will make sure to give you opportunities to interact and engage with others in a way that suits your character. Take any opportunity that presents itself, and go for it.
  • Should your character be villainous, a trouble-maker or antagonistic, we’re totally down for it. We will support you and help you manage your conflicts on an out-of-character level. Talk to us. We want to be fully informed of all your nefarious game plans so no one is blind-sided or surprised. Full disclosure, informed consent of all players involved, and out-of-character communication is expected at all times. And, we will help your plot and plan, should you ask for it.
  • No NPCs here. All necessary skills needed to support the camp or character group must be handled by players’ characters. If we need a blacksmith, we want that to be handled by a player’s character’s in-character profession. Horseshoes, woodworking, cooking, cleaning, armor crafting and repair are all to be handled by players, and the amenities of the camp will be determined by available in-character professions. This does not apply to raiding or PVE. Everyone needs to be prepared.

Hydaelyn-appropriate characters.

REMNANT’s officers won’t dictate what kind of character you can or cannot play in order to join or participate in activities with REMNANT. That is entirely up to the player. We only ask that characters fit within the established lore of FFXIV, and not be directly connected to major lore characters or organizations. If you are unsure of your concept, and would like feedback, we will provide judgement-free advice, and only if you ask for it. Characters unrealistically skilled at an exceptionally young age, or any unreasonably powerful traits should be kept within your immediate circle of roleplay friends.

Roleplay Etiquette.

REMNANT doesn't have any additional expectations of players outside of what is generally considered standard RP etiquette. We ask that people respect one another, first and foremost as people, as players, and cause no harm.
  • Please manage all of your in-character conflicts in character and keep Out of Character communication open with the other player. Please give other players a heads up to your intentions, and work out the details between yourself and others. This can and does lead to better stories. Open, honest communication is key. This applies to combat situations, as well as characters not getting along. Please be aware of your audience, as you are also entertaining other role players.
  • Should any act of role play turn to a grievance, please contact the person out-of-character to start up a dialogue to solve your differences. We cannot stress communication enough.
  • We ask that excessively violent, darker role play, or role play of an adult nature, be kept to non-public venues (ie, individual house rooms, or party chat. If it is an FC event, keep it to FC chat.) All players involved should consent to any scene that they participate in. No one should ever feel pressured into participation, nor guilty for excusing themselves if they are uncomfortable with a scene.
  • Under no circumstances will using role play as an excuse for bad behavior be tolerated.
