Name: Randel Pierce Age: 17 Height: 5'9'' Profession: 'Hero' Alignment: Lawful Good Weapon: Magical Great Sword Home Nation: Limsa Lominsa
History and Appearance
Randel Pierce was born into tragedy, his mother expiring moments after his arrival into this world. His father, a blacksmith from Limsa Lominsa, while not resentful of his child, was a distant father, one who replaced the notion of a family bond with a professional one. As soon as Randel was old enough to wield hammer and tongs, he was being groomed into a smithing apprentice.
Unfortunately for his father, Randel seemed to inherit his mother's sense of wanderlust, intrigue and romanticism far more than his own steely work-ethic. His craft was sloppy, often caught in a daydream or humming a melody rather than focusing on his metalwork. This only reminded Randel's father of his lost wife more and more, to the point where he was all too grateful when the boy reached an age suitable enough to leave home.
In what many would consider a sinister move, Randel's father decided to exacerbate that sense of adventure within the boy as he neared 'adulthood', telling him stories of great heroes and champions of justice. While Randel interpreted this as fatherly love, the father felt pangs of guilt knowing that this would only fuel a desire to seek adventure in the boy.
So, Randel did leave home. His head filled with notions of great heroes and swordsmen the world over, the boy wanted to carve his own name in the songbooks. Doing good and right wherever he could, with mighty sword in hand. To that end, his father even bestowed upon Randel an old family heirloom. A magical sword, that supposedly generations of smiths before him had each added their own work to. By now, the blade was quite enormous and weighty, though oddly Randel carried it along with relative ease.
Randel now travels to and fro, a song in his heart and the overwhelming desire to do good channeled in his every step. A pure heart, misled onto this path by his deceitful, flawed father, Randel takes to his journey like a fish to water.
In terms of appearance, Randel is a typical youth. Standing a few inches below six feet tall and with a doughy, slender sort of physique, Long, auburn hair is swept to one side, usually covering one of his lilac-hued irises. Undeniably handsome in a youthful, 'cute' kind of way, Randel is the apotheosis of a physically fit, if somewhat preening, young man.
Oddly the majority of Randel's physical strength appears to be situated in his legs, with fairly thick thighs that allow him to spring forward and strike remarkably quickly and firmly, as well as outrun most dangers! The boy seems to manipulate his weight by shifting onto each leg, enough that he can swing his enormous sword easily, even with his unimpressive upper body mass.
Typically Randel wears simple garments. He is not a fan of metal armour, nor is he a fan of gaudy colours or accessories. Simple tunics, cloths and leathers suit him just fine, as he's prone to getting muddy anyway. Or bloody. Depends on the situation!
Personality
Randel's most defining character traits are his optimism, hastiness, quick-wit and often playful nature. He is intelligent and resourceful, a stout believer in 'where there's a will, there's a way'. He sees nothing as impossible, though this is parts recklessness and parts overbearing enthusiasm. He often comes across as a bumbling fool, but he is fully aware of what is happening around him and his own abilities. He catches people frequently off-guard with an insightful comment… or a sweeping sword lunge. Classic misdirection.
Even though he is usually kind-hearted and easy-going, witnessing injustice, especially in the form of the strong oppressing the weak, ignites an extreme and sometimes destructive blind anger in him. He fails to understand where this well of power stems from, but which is likely attributed to some latent strength within, something the scholarly might refer to as resembling a 'touched' individual.
Randel can sometimes be cocky and impertinent, especially toward easily-angered foes. This is more a playful streak than any real arrogance on Randel's part.
Despite his pure intentions and kindly soul, Randel's power is quite monstrous when unleashed in full, often utterly overpowering men of twice his age and size with ease.
Things Randel might say; <To an ally.> - “It'll be fine! Believe in me, just like I believe in you!” <To a huge monster.> - “Oohh, the bards will know my name for this!~” <To a healer> - “Just let me know if you need to stop, okay? … I didn't say I would, just to let me know. Heehee!~” <To a girl> - “ACK!! -Sneezes awkwardly.-”
