Name: Ser Girarde 'Gir' Adofaer Age: 22 Height: 6'5'' Profession: Knight of House Haillenarte Alignment: Lawful Good Weapon: Battle Axe Home Nation: Ishgard
History and Appearance Girarde Adofaer was born in a very modest position of nobility within The Holy See of Ishgard. Belonging to a very distant relative of Count Haillenarte, Girarde has lived most of his youth with something to prove. Looked down upon by the higher nobility and resented by the 'common' folk, Girarde was bastardized in Ishgardian society.
Despite this, rather than resent his lineage, Girarde flies the flag of his family name proudly and without hesitation. Some accuse him of having delusions of grandeur, though Girarde brushes off this slander with his pointy nose held high in the air and an indignant pert upon his lips.
As he grew, several defining traits began to form in Girarde's physicality as well as his personality. He was on the short side, for Elezen, and relatively slender and gentle in build. His hair is a natural, shimmering golden and his eyes coppery brown. Coupled with his penchant for wearing flashy garb and vibrant, precious metals, Girarde was quickly branded a flamboyant eccentric, albeit an immeasurably pretty one.
It was because of his tender frame and pretty-boy appearance that Girarde worked against the grain once more, showing formidable resilience and, in the words of some better-off nobility, a 'refusal to accept his lot'. Remaining a member of the High Houses allowed Girarde to train as a knight once he came of suitable age, and he did so, excelling in battlefield strategy and showing an astounding resilience in his body, as well as his character.
His instructors and peers noted that Girarde would make an excellent knight, though he held himself back with a single crippling weakness; Arrogance.
Supremely cocky, confident and haughty, Girarde was a polarising student and colleague. Those alongside him in battle either found him a frustratingly reckless imbecile keen to throw his life away and that of his comrades, or an inspiring pillar of radiating confidence, one who's very presence on the battlefield made any feat possible through sheer will.
This being the case, Girarde was eventually sent on an 'excursion' to the south. It is hoped that being in a foreign land for an extended period, on his own, would instill a sense of humility and caution in the otherwise arrogant and reckless Elezen.
… Then again, probably not.
Personality
Cocky and confident, Girarde is never one to back down from anything. He is intensely proud of who he is and where he is from. Often haughty and somewhat aloof to those he has just met, Girarde can become a very loyal and devoted friend.
He is astutely moral, never keen to take underhanded tactics and always looking to do the right thing. Even the most basic and simple of tasks is, to Girarde, a personal test. He does not accept failure very well and is very slow to retreat, both in conversation and in battle.
Intelligent and cunning, Girarde shows a remarkable strategic mind, able to outplay most unprepared foes both in martial and social combat. Despite his intelligence, his arrogance and often flamboyant nature often give the false impression that he is a simple buffoon.
Despite his many shortcomings, Girarde cares deeply for his friends and is ultimately self-sacrificing. He does his best to elevate himself, and his friends, above any unsavoury chaos they may become embroiled within. Eager to listen and share his viewpoint, Girarde can be a very good person to
talk to when things go wrong, and despite his lordling stature, he often knows of some very good ways to have fun.
Things Girarde might say; <To an ally.> - “Fret not! As long as I draw breath… so shall you!” <To a huge monster.> - “Hah! Prodigious size alone does not dissuade the sharpened axe!” <To an opponent.> - “Hmph! Honestly, to duel you… seems like such a waste of my talent.” <To a… buxom lass.> - “Fair maiden… thy cups runneth over.~”
Oh my, I can only imagine how Girarde is going to interact with some of the residents here. I'm so happy to see more traditional Ishgardian RPers, feels like they'rea rarity.
