In the wee hours of Friday morning, Bearcave purchased a medium house in the Goblet. We now have Free Company housing! This purchase has changed the initial direction we wanted to take the Free Company, and will be shaping future roleplay stories while still keeping with the original theme. It just means changing up the timeline.
Ayushiridara will be handing out linkpearls in the camp (Friday 7/17) at 12 AM EST/9 PM PST. If you are unable to make it, let Industry13 know, and she will have Ayushiridara come find you. Personally.
Roleplay that puts us in the house will be coming up within the next week. The house will still be in rough shape, in-character, when we arrive. We still still need materials for repair/upkeep, to keep members fed, etc.
Why the refugees suddenly have a permanent residence is anyone's guess at the moment. This will be explained in-character as part of an on-going chapter.
The Goblet wasn't our first choice, but the decision was made for the benefit of the Free Company. A future update may make it possible to transfer Free Company housing to Ishgard, and possibly other housing districts, as per the latest Letter from the Producer.
I'm not particularly fond of the Goblet either, but since out characters have been hanging around Uldah lately ICly anyways, it makes sense for the time being. Later on in future updates if they produce more housing wards in other estates, or even allow transfers, we can decide as an FC if we should move or not. I don't think it would take too much effort- everyone would clean out their rooms, and we can always get new stuff later too.
I'm hoping that they just allow you to pick up the whole damn thing and move it without a fuss. That would be ideal. But we shall see!
The plan so far is the basement will be mess hall/storage/den; the main floor will be a greeting/guest reception/living room; upstairs will be a combination dojo and zen space. Gardening is available outside. Start buying your private rooms as your own leisure. They are 300k gil with a 50 item limit. At the moment, the house is completely out-of-character.
